Complementary therapies to Manage Anxiety and Stress
Psychological stress describes what people feel when they are under mental, physical, or emotional pressure. People who are able to use effective coping strategies to deal with stress, such as relaxation and stress management techniques, have been shown to have lower levels of depression, anxiety, and symptoms related to the cancer and its treatment.
Anxiety and Fear of Cancer Diagnosis, Treatment, and Prognosis
According to this study, Studies indicated that neglecting mental health concerns can have far-reaching consequences, affecting treatment adherence, quality of life (QoL), and overall health outcomes.
Cancer diagnosis can trigger intense anxiety and fear in individuals. The initial shock and uncertainty surrounding the diagnosis can lead to a cascade of emotions, including worry about treatment options, prognosis, and the impact on one’s life.
One of the primary sources of anxiety is the fear of the treatment process itself. Cancer treatments (such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and immunotherapy) are often associated with physical discomfort, side effects, and potential complications. Also, the fear of pain, loss of control, and the potential impact on their body image can increase anxiety levels.
Another source of anxiety is the uncertainty of the prognosis. Indeed, cancer is a complex disease, and outcomes could vary widely depending on factors such as the stage of cancer, type of cancer, treatment effectiveness, and individual response. The fear of the unknown future, the possibility of recurrence, or disease progression can create a constant sense of stress and discomfort
Anxiety and depression reduces survival
As well as being distressing, anxiety and depression have been linked to reduced survival following radical cancer treatments. Of note, a large prospective cohort study from California reported that 4.6% of 41 000 men, who were clinically depressed after prostate cancer diagnosis, had a 25% reduction in disease-specific survival compared with non-depressed men.

Tapping to relieve stress.
The following appears on The Tapping Solution website.
Tapping, also known as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), is a powerful stress relief technique. Tapping is based on the combined principles of ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology.
Studies have shown that Tapping decreases cortisol (often called the stress hormone) in your body. The World Health Organization has announced that stress is the health epidemic of the 21st century.
This is because stress is linked to anxiety, weight gain, sleep problems, lack of motivation, chronic pain, stomach issues, and depression. Tapping is proven to reduce stress, lower cortisol, improve sleep, reduce anxiety, relieve pain, increase productivity, and so much more!
Stress is also detrimental to your immune system because when you’re stressed, your immune system’s ability to fight off antigens is reduced, and you are more susceptible to infections. Tapping helps to lower stress, and in turn, allows your immune system to do its work! Continue reading at The Tapping Solution website.
