Why you need to radically change your diet
Cancer Stem Cells are the only cells that can give rise to new tumors. There is no known way of eliminating them. This is why cancers usually recur (come back).
However, Dr Young S. Kim, a scientist at the National Cancer Institute in the US showed that poor diet causes cancer stem cells to regrow while a good diet could stop that regrowth.
This American Cancer Society study found that Colorectal cancer patients who improve their diet and lifestyle survive longer with a 42% reduced risk of death than those who do not make the changes.

Whole Food, Plant Based Diet
One in three cancer cases are a result of lifestyle choices.
A plant-based diet is a powerful way to reduce the risk.
A plant-based diet consists of exclusively plant foods, including fruit, vegetables, grains, and legumes, and avoids meat, dairy, and eggs. Plant-based foods are full of fiber, rich in vitamins and minerals, free of cholesterol, and low in calories and saturated fat. Eating a variety of these foods provides all the protein, calcium, and other essential nutrients your body needs. It’s important to include a reliable source of vitamin B12 in your diet. You can easily meet your vitamin B12 needs with a daily supplement or fortified foods, such as vitamin B12-fortified breakfast cereals, plant milks, and nutritional yeast.
Those who eat a plant-based diet lower their risk for heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and other health conditions. Research also shows that a plant-based diet can be less expensive that an omnivorous diet.

The more naturally colorful your diet is, the more likely it is to have an abundance of cancer-fighting compounds. The pigments that give fruits and vegetables their bright colors—like beta-carotene in sweet potatoes or lycopene in tomatoes—help you fight cancer.
Plant foods also contain fiber, which helps remove excess hormones that could lead to breast and prostate cancer. Fiber also quickly removes waste from the digestive system, which helps prevent colorectal cancer.
Avoiding meat and dairy products allows you to sidestep potential risks. Grilling meat—including chicken and fish—produces carcinogens. Red and processed meats—like bacon and hot dogs—contain harmful substances that lead to colorectal cancer. Dairy products have been linked to prostate, breast, and ovarian cancers.
The scientific evidence
Diet based health programmes-Ornish Lifestyle Medicine
Dr. Dean Ornish MD, Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco conducted a study with 93 men with early biopsy-proven prostate cancer who had chosen not to undergo any conventional treatment. It proved that it’s possible to halt the progression of early stage prostate cancer with a plant-based diet, along with daily exercise and stress reduction.
After 1 year, none of the 44 patients in the treatment group had to undergo conventional treatment (e.g., radical prostatectomy or radiotherapy). However, 6 of the 49 control patients (those not following the Ornish diet and lifestyle modification programme, but making lifestyle changes as advised by their physician) did required conventional treatment.
After 2 years, 2 of the 43 experimental patients and 13 of the 49 control patients had undergone conventional prostate cancer treatment.

Ornish Lifestyle Medicine has been scientifically proven to…slow, stop, or even reverse the progression of early-stage prostate cancer in a series of randomized controlled trials published in leading peer-reviewed journals.
We also found that changing lifestyle changes your genes—turning on protective genes and turning off genes that promote inflammation, oxidative stress, and oncogenes that promote prostate cancer, breast cancer, and colon cancer—over 500 genes in only 3 months.
This study says: In this cohort study of 70 696 Japanese adults followed up for a mean of 18 years, higher intake of plant protein was associated with lower total mortality. Moreover, substitution of plant protein for animal protein, mainly for red or processed meat protein, was associated with lower risk of total, cancer-related, and cardiovascular disease–related mortality. Meaning A higher intake of plant-based proteins may contribute to long-term health and longevity.
This study says: In the two cohorts with 3,540,791 person-years of follow-up, we documented 36,115 deaths, of which 8,851 were due to CVD, 13,159 to cancer, and 14,105 to other causes…The substitution associations were generally stronger for death from CVD and other causes than from cancer, except for eggs, for which substitution for 3%-energy plant protein was associated with 21% lower cancer mortality…Conclusion: Higher animal protein intake was positively, whereas plant protein was inversely, associated with mortality, especially among individuals with at least one lifestyle risk factors. Substitution of plant protein for animal protein, especially from processed red meat, was associated with lower mortality, suggesting the importance of protein source.
This study followed 2641 Finnish men for 22.3 years. Conclusions: Higher ratio of animal to plant protein in diet and higher meat intake were associated with increased mortality risk. Higher total protein intake appeared to be associated with mortality mainly among those with a predisposing disease.

More studies show survival benefit of Diet
A study by Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center and Shanghai Center for Disease Control and Prevention (see here), of 4,886 Chinese breast cancer survivors diagnosed with stage 1 to stage 4 breast cancer found cruciferous vegetable intake during the first 36 months after breast cancer diagnosis was associated with a reduced risk for total mortality, breast cancer-specific mortality and recurrence in a dose–response pattern. Across increasing quartiles of cruciferous vegetable consumption, risk for total mortality decreased by 27% to 62% , risk for breast cancer-specific mortality decreased by 22% to 62%, and risk for recurrence decreased by 21% to 35%.
A number of other studies found diet could improve outcomes for breast, colon and prostate cancer.
A 2014 meta-analysis found that a low-fat diet reduced the risk of recurrence of breast cancer by 23% and all cause mortality of breast cancer by 17%.
A 2007 study concluded that a higher intake of a Western diet may be associated with a higher risk of recurrence and death among patients with stage III colon cancer treated with surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy.
A 2014 study noted that high intake of dietary fat, especially, high intake of animal and saturated fats, may be associated with increased prostate cancer risk. In contrast, a low-fat diet, specifically low in saturated fat, may be beneficial for prostate cancer survivors by reducing tumor angiogenesis and cancer recurrence. The insulin-like growth factor (IGF)/Akt signaling pathway appears to be the key pathway moderating dietary fat intake and prostate cancer development and progression.
How to Starve Your Cancer
Remove all animal products (meat and dairy) and sugar from your diet.
The link between the consumption of animal protein and cancer became global news more than a decade ago with the publication of The China Study (The Most Comprehensive Study of Nutrition Ever Conducted).
The results led researchers to conclude that overall, the closer people came to an all plant-based diet, the lower their risk for chronic disease.
A diet rich in animal and dairy products was shown to stimulate cancer cell growth. Cancer cells need protein to divide and flourish. Cut off the supply of animal protein and you can stop the growth and spread of cancer cells.
Remove animal protein from your diet
Dr John Kelly, a Dublin GP helped his patients survive cancer with an animal protein free diet diet. In his book Stop Feeding Your Cancer Dr Kelly provides case histories of a number of his patients who survived deadly cancers by adopting an animal protein free diet (no meat, no dairy produce). He kept a detailed record of the results over a period of nine years, showing that the diet can switch cancer growth off, reversing it into a dormant state, and effectively cure the patient.
Animal Protein and IGF-1 (increased cancer risk)
When we ingest proteins that have a higher proportion of the essential amino acids (which is a characteristic of animal protein), it results in our bodies producing higher levels of the hormone insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1). This hormone stimulates cell division and growth in both healthy and cancer cells and, for this reason, having higher circulating levels of IGF-1 has been consistently associated with increased cancer risk, proliferation, and malignancy. Animal protein intake and cancer deaths.
This study looked at the link between protein intake and mortality in 6,381 adults. Respondents aged 50–65 reporting high protein intake had a 75% increase in overall mortality and a 4-fold increase in cancer death risk during the following 18 years. These associations were either abolished or attenuated if the proteins were plant derived.
Glucose feeds cancer
Dr. Thomas Graeber, a professor of molecular and medical pharmacology, has investigated how glucose affects cancer cells. In research published in 2012 in the journal Molecular Systems Biology, Graeber and his colleagues demonstrate that depriving cancer cells of glucose leads to cancer cell death.
Here are some tips from The Foundation for Collaborative Medicine and Research (Collmed)
- Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in colour. Better alternative is Bragg’s aminos or sea salt, or Himalayan salt.
- Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened rice milk cancer cells are being starved.
- Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.
- A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice, including carrot juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of104 degrees F (40 degrees C).
- Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water: best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.
- Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become putrefied and leads to more toxic buildup.
- Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body’s killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.
- Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-essence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the body’s own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E succinate are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body’s normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.
- Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, unforgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.
- Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

Cut out cancer promoting foods:
No meat products of any kind
No dairy products of any kind
No processed or artificial foods
No white sugar
No biscuits, buns, cakes, tarts etc
No white bread or white rice
No oils (corn, safflower, olive, etc. oils) as they encourage tumors to grow faster.
Eat organic foods to avoid herbicides, fungicides, pesticides and chemical fertilizers.
Eat a giant salad every day.
Eat lots of immune-boosting, anticancer foods such as:
Carrots, Beets, Celery, Garlic, Onions, Leeks, Green Tea
Broccoli (especially broccoli sprouts), Brussels Sprouts, Cauliflower, Kale, Cabbage, Green Beans, Spinach, Beetroot
Tip: Juicing vegetables helps to increase intake.
