INTEGRATIVE ONCOLOGY

Integrative cancer treatment or Integrative Oncology is a holistic and patient-centered approach to cancer care. It uses both conventional treatments, such as chemotherapy and surgery, alongside complementary therapies such as Mistletoe therapy and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Alternative treatments such as the Budwig Diet may also be incorporated.

Integrative Oncology is designed to ease the patient’s suffering, address the important emotional and psychological impact of cancer, as well as alleviate symptoms of the diseases and ease side effects of conventional treatments.

Mind-body interventions such as meditation or yoga, nutrition and acupuncture are also part of this approach, in a multi-disciplinary and coordinated way.

Multiple studies have demonstrated the benefit and potential of integrative cancer care in reducing patient suffering and improving long-term prospects.

Where can I access Integrative treatments?

Integrative cancer treatment is not available in Ireland, but can be accessed in private clinics in the U.K., Europe, the U.S. and elsewhere.

Yes To Life provides a directory of providers in the U.K. There is also a good number of clinics in Germany offering a variety of treatments.

Note:
1. Some clinics do not provide 24/7 medical care and some do not accept bed-ridden patients. Be sure you know exactly what is on offer.
2. Some cancer types do not respond to certain treatments.
